Keynote Speaker - ROXXANNE NEWMAN
Roxxanne Newman is an early-career research scientist at the People, Place, and Health Collective at the Brown School of Public Health. Having been previously incarcerated and in long-term recovery from substance use for the last ten years, Roxxanne has been a fierce and dedicated advocate for the recovery and justice-involved communities, calling for changes in public policy, law, and education that will remove the barriers that prevent people from moving forward. Her primary mission is to combat the stigma of substance use disorder, recovery, and previous justice involvement by providing living proof that recovery is possible and people deserve second chances..
