We asked our followers on social media to send along words of encouragement for our students returning to their studies this fall, and here’s what they said…
“Your community is rooting for you. Keep. Going.”
“We are always beginning anew.” You’ve done much harder things than this! Enjoy."
“You got this, you are not your past and there’s no limit to what your future can be. Think big.”
“Make choices that are good for YOU! By furthering your education, you are doing just that! Prayers for your success.”
“You can do it! Prove it to yourself! Which, in the end, that is whom you should do it for.”
“Education is key. The key to options. Choices! Pat yourself on the back and be proud of yourself for taking this step.”
"You are worth it <3"
"It's never too late to keep on trying. Focus on the present and not on the past (unless you're in history class)."
"2 things: First, it’s never too late, and you’ll never regret taking time to expand your mind. Second, as Malcolm X said, “Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.”
What would you say to those pursuing their college degree or professional certificate while incarcerated, or reentering their community after incarceration?
